Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center - Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin's Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish - Fay J. Lindner Residences) and independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens). Our Certified Home Health Agency and Licensed Home Care Services Agency share an office in Farmingdale, NY.

*Assists in the operation, maintenance and repair of the building, grounds, equipment and utilities of the Center.
*Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment, boilers, plumbing, and electrical -
*Completes all work orders and preventive maintenance forms, as necessary. - - - - - - - - -
* -Responds to the facility when called in on an emergency or snow.
* -Available to work long hours on an emergency basis.
* -Shows willingness to lend aid to residents and staff.
* -Observes facility and departmental policies and procedures.
* -Demonstrates knowledge of and participates in Center's fire and disaster plans.
* -Consistently meets performance qualifications.
* -Participates in departmental and facility meetings and training sessions.
* -Completes all work orders and preventive maintenance forms, as necessary.
*Operates HVAC, mechanical and electrical equipment.
*Follows dress code and maintains a neat and clean personal appearance.
* -Follows departmental safety policies and procedures/performs duties in a safe manner.

*Must have universal refrigeration certification.
*Knowledge of the dementia population and dealing with related behaviors.

* -Completes work and tasks as directed.
* -Capable of using small hand and power tools. - - -

* -Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects (up to 75 lbs).
* -Basic mechanical, electrical and plumbing knowledge.
* -Capable of completing all assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
* -Capable of working in a specialty care environment (sub acute).
* -Capable of troubleshooting building operational problems.
