OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONTransit Communications/Systems Designer - Hybrid - New York, NY - Newark, NJVHB is seeking a Transit Communications/Systems Designer to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit & rail transportation communications and system infrastructure projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.Responsibilities* Assist in development of wired and wireless communication systems spanning several types of transit infrastructure projects (regional rail, subways, bridges, tunnels, multi-modal stations, yards, substations, and maintenance facilities)* Assist in implementing communications and systems for fiber optic networks and information management* Assist in designing, building, and maintenance of compound cellular and Wi-Fi networks* Assist in planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for transit-focused system infrastructure projects* Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirementsSkills and Attributes* Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in system infrastructure engineering* Team oriented with strong capability to work independently* Robust technical and critical thinking skills* Detail oriented and quality focused* Strong task management skillsQualifications* 3-5 years of experience in transit communications/systems engineering required* BS in Electrical Engineering or related field of study preferred* Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferredOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $76,000-110,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.WE ARE VHB!
