Building and Land Technology (BLT) is now hiring seasonal Dockhand for the upcoming 2022 season! The Dockhand is responsible for assisting the marina team and candidates must be highly service oriented. Dockhands are responsible for performing a variety of tasks including but not limited to general operation of the marina(s), by assisting seasonal boaters, Harbor Point tenants, community visitors and transient guests. The Dockhand must work to maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the marina and the Harbor Point waterfront community. The Dockhand will assist in multiple areas as needed and must be comfortable working safely around water. Duties & Responsibilities of the DockhandProvide Harbor Point Marina (HPM) guests and boaters with exceptional service by creating the best experience possible. Must greet all visitors, guests, and tenants with exceptional care in a courteous and kind manner. Provide five-star country club customer service, including answering questions regarding local knowledge and information, as requested or necessary Maintain and project a high level of professionalism, personal care, and positive image to the public. Assisting the Marina Manager with all marina services offered, including quality control procedures, guest services, Transient reservations and Dock and Dine services. Assist all guests and visitors with general needs, throughout the Harbor Point community Maintain and clean Dock Master Office, windows, gardens, boardwalks, docks, walkways, restrooms, surrounding property and other areas designated by management Ensure all marinas, work boat, water taxi and equipment are always operational Comply with OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, and adhere to all site rules and company policies and expectations Perform all other duties as assigned by Marina Manager, Dock Master, Engineering, Upper Management Provide support for Marina and Management team; as in general requests and in security related efforts, including documenting and notifying management of incidents. Requirements of the DockhandResponsible for performing routine/daily cleaning tasks to meet established quality standards for all Marina-related operations including maintenance of marinas, parking areas, weeding, removing trash and debris. Proficient swimmer with basic knowledge of boating/boat handling skills, previous marina experience preferred Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours (if needed) to support all marinas/event/park programs. Essential skills: computer basics, Word/Excel is a plus, math, filing, administration skills, communication (VHF radio/SeaSpeak), and boating safety. Previous customer service experience preferred Must demonstrate a positive attitude combined with the ability to communicate fluently and relate well with customers in a fast-paced environment Eagerly puts forth the extra effort to accomplish duties Adapts quickly and efficiently to changing priorities to meet team member / guest needs Must have the ability to effectively work independently, and manage and motivate staff and self Must be unlimited or unimpaired, in ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb and work safely around water, on a ladder or in confined spaces. Exhibit character of qualities that possess and display a proactive, professional, honest, trustworthy, and strong work ethic Must be detail oriented - have an eye for detail Adhere to all company policies Education/Experience Required for the Dockhand positionHigh School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred 1 - 3 years of related experience (Not required, will train) Must possess a valid NY/CT state drivers license. CT state boating license a plus, not required, can obtain on approval of employment Must be physically fit, able to lift at least 40 lbs, work standing for multiple hours (6+) and work in all types of weather CPR/First Aid Certification a plus BLT is an equal opportunity employerPM21Powered by JazzHRPI192160001
