The Advanced Location Technology (ALT) RF Development Team is responsible for the design of next generation RFID and Location products for the Industrial, Healthcare, and Sports Markets. Products incorporate a diverse set of location technologies including: Ultra-Wideband (UWB), ISO 24730 (2.4GHz), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, magnetic and UHF RFID products, to locate assets and people. Members of the hardware team design the tags, beacons, receivers, hubs, RFID readers, etc. that are the key hardware components in the overall location solutions. Products developed by this group include UWB tags and receivers which are used to track all NFL football players and balls at all NFL games at all stadiums. Design engineers must be creative in applying the latest technologies to solving difficult locationing problems with cost effective, accurate, and reliable hardware and firmware. Responsibilities: The RF Design Engineer will be responsible for developing products from inception to production release. Designs may consist of system and board level designs of radio transmitters and receivers in the 1GHz-8GHz range, RF Front Ends, Filters, Antenna matching circuits, RF test systems for development and manufacturing, design and/or specification of antennas, and documentation including specifications, user manuals, and test procedures. The candidate will work with in-house Antenna, Electrical, Mechanical and Firmware Engineers as well as off-shore Joint-Development-Partners (JDMs) in the design and manufacture of these Advanced Location Technology products.

  • Responsible for RF system implementation throughout a product design cycle.
  • Responsible for part selection, prototyping, factory bring up and lab bench debug and root cause.
  • Work with internal cross-functional teams and external JDM/CMs to successfully bring wireless products to market.
  • Support EMI/EMC trouble shooting and validation.
  • Domestic/international travel to achieve program milestones may be required
  • Architects, designs, and supports developing, and testing of RF design solutions to several highly- complex technical projects. Creates specifications for the projects. Leads technology roadmapprocess. Recommends project approach and goals.
  • Prioritizes quality and seeks out improvements in all aspects of the RF projects. Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree or Masters in an appropriate engineering discipline required.
    • Bachelors degree and 9+ years experience or Masters degree and 6+ years experience
    • Experienced board level RF/Analog circuit designer
    • Must be familiar with VNA s, Spectrum Analyzers, OscilloscopesPreferred Requirements:
      • RF design experience in the 1GHz-8GHz range
      • RF System level design experience in Ultra-Wideband (UWB) a big plus
      • Experience with Distributed RF Circuit design
      • Experience in discrete/transistor level RF circuit design
      • Experience with ADS, CST, Cadence design tools
      • Experience with UHF RFID a plus
      • Experience with BLE/Wi-Fi/LoRa/GPS RF design
      • Solid understanding of system level antenna design
