Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- - - - - - - - -Verify customer benefits via phone, fax, and/or
web portal.
- - - - - - - - -Assures member's insurance policies (past and
present) are accurately reflected in the AS400.
- - - - - - - - -Updates tracking system with accurate and relevant
information.
- - - - - - - - -Demonstrates knowledge of insurance plan
guidelines and the use of electronic systems for verification
purposes. -Uses electronic systems and payer websites for
verification of insurance, authorizations, and referrals.
- - - - - - - - -Reviews and approves documentation received by
third parties, for submission to payer's for reimbursement of
orders shipped.
- - - - - - - - -Answers questions from customers, clerical staff,
insurance companies, and physician offices.
- - - - - - - - -Identifies and resolved patient complaints.
- - - - - - - - -Explains and collects co-pays, deductibles and
other patient balances when needed.
- - - - - - - - -Makes patients fully aware of financial
obligations and eligibility for programs that may provide financial
aide.
- - - - - - - - -Provide patient education regarding third-party
coverage and liabilities.
Role Requirements:
1-2 years experience in a professional setting, preferably
healthcare
Familiarity with medical terminology and insurances HCPCS/ICD-10
codes
Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid and/or private insurance
guidelines or policies.
Proficient in computer software, specifically Microsoft Word and
Excel. AS400 (Iseries) a plus
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and
verbally
Excellent Customer Service Skills
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written, with
physicians, employees, and patients to ensure questions and
concerns are processed in a timely manner
Helpful, knowledgeable and polite while maintaining a positive
attitude
Multi-task along with attention to detail
Self-motivation, organized, time management and deductive problem
solving skills
Work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical
Equipment (HME)
Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when
handling sensitive information
Physical Demands of the Position:
Hours of talking and hearing on a daily basis
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
Requires close vision to small print on computer and or
paperwork
Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking (phone and in person),
or listening
Routine walking and standing for long periods of time
Use of hands to write, use computers and manipulate paper
