Job Posting Summary

The focus of this position is relationship building and fundraising. This role is responsible for Donor Relations which has been identified as a key element in strategically increasing fundraising. By focusing attention on donors after gifts are made, in particular major gifts, Mercy will elevate and strengthen relationships with the College's key donors. The Director will assist the Major Gift team in thanking donors, providing timely reports, and hosting large and more intimate events with students and other key leaders at the College. This position plays a key role in the growth of the Development department and will work closely with College leaders, the Board and donors.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Management of the stewardship for private scholarships and be the liaison between Development staff, Office of Financial Services, Deans & Faculty re: disbursement of private scholarship dollars.
  • Build a comprehensive program to foster and nurture lasting relationships between Mercy College and its donors, and to steward gifts - especially scholarship funds, campaign, and leadership level gifts.
  • Work closely with the College's Advancement team to engage Mercy's donors and prospects in the life of the College, to build confidence that their gifts have impact, and to help strengthen their philanthropic support.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive stewardship program which appropriately and consistently promotes interaction with and recognition of donors at all levels, and supports the prospect management process.
  • Plan and execute events that recognize donors and bring them together with students, faculty, staff and Board members to demonstrate gratitude for their support.
  • Manage the Stewardship of donor affinity groups such as, the Ronnenberg Society, Honor Roll of Donors, Mercy Scholars Program and Founder's Legacy Scholarship.
  • Manage prospect research requests needed by the major gifts team.
  • Coordinate internal reports from Office of Student Financial Services to produce reports for donors; re: scholarship recipients and financial status of funds.
  • Represent the College at special events and alumni events

Experience and/or Skills Required

  • At least 5 years of Development experience; preferably in higher education or non-profit
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational and presentation skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Blackbaud Raisers Edge, Social Media
  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule (including some nights and weekends)
  • Ability to train others
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills

High degree of organization and initiative abilities.

Ability to handle deadlines and changing priorities with good judgement.

Complete respect for confidentiality.

Strong Team player

Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including the Board and major donors.
