The right person is skilled in working collaboratively to create and execute on an annual operating plan, can provide leadership and guidance throughout the organization, and has extensive experience setting and implementing strategy and processes for recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management. The Senior HR Manager has a history of standardizing HR processes and efficiently managing systems.What You'll Do Talent Acquisition

  • Work closely with department leaders to strengthen processes around recruitment and hiring.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for buildOn AmeriCorps members.
  • Provide leadership across all departments to ensure we are meeting Time-to-Fill KPI goal of 50 days (70 days for executive roles) while maintaining a diverse workforce.
    • Lead the use of the applicant tracking system across the organization to ensure efficiency and timely communication.
    • Strengthen hiring with documented processes and thoughtful coordination with hiring managers.
    • Conduct phone screen interviews for all openings across the US-based organization.
    • Conduct first-round interviews to help shortlist candidates for Director-level positions and above.
    • Attract top talent by continuously monitoring and responding to Glassdoor and similar employer review sites.
    • Work closely with Senior Leadership Team to ensure buildOn is a "best place to work."Onboarding & Talent Development
      • Revamp the onboarding process with dynamic resources, solid processes, and create a clear plan for department-specific onboarding.
        • Lead and oversee performance management practices across the organization.
          • Ensure managers have the tools and training for continuous coaching around goals and areas for development
          • Implement annual reviews and ensure merit increases are timely and comply with budget policy
            • Support employee growth and culture building by creating quarterly learnings using the principles of Constructive Leadership (empathy, courage, resilience, passion for the possible, and solidarity).
            • Collaborate with department leaders to define prospective career paths for all positions.HR TeamThe following responsibilities are shared with other members of the HR team who include Sr HR Manager and COO, Global
              • Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
              • Hold weekly office hours for the buildOn team.
              • Monitor staff feedback portals and partner with Sr Leadership Team to ensure resolution.
              • Work closely with Sr HR Manager, Talent and COO, Global to create and achieve a KPI around employee support and satisfaction.
              • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems.
                • Ensure that internal investigations include an understanding of allegations, appropriate interviews, analysis and documentation, and recommendations for conclusion and course of action.
                • Work as a team to update the employee handbook.

                    • Experience serving on a senior leadership team.
                    • Experience working in mission-centered and results-driven nonprofit programs
                    • Exceptional communicator. Track record of inspiring teams to achieve results and experience presenting to regional boards, to major donors and other external stakeholders, and to one buildOn.
                    • Significant experience driving transformational equity, diversity, and inclusion in organizations.
                    • A minimum of 5 years leading the full talent spectrum, performance management, benefits and payroll.
                    • Highly skilled in building trusting, collaborative relationships.
                    • Excel in interpersonal communications, inclusive leadership, and managing difficult conversations.
                    • Strong understanding of applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
                    • Superior project management, priority setting, verbal and written communication skills.
                    • Previous experience in capturing metrics and producing various data analytics reports.
                    • Experience in strategic planning and/or operating plan creation.
                    • Bachelor's degree in related field.
                    • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
