Job Description Job Description Description: Under the direct
supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, provides direct clinical
podiatric care to patients at the health center. The Podiatrist is
a member of the Care Team with the purpose of providing
evidence-based and quality foot and ankle care to Zufall Health
Center patients. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive podiatric care for patients of the Zufall
Health Center, including but not limited to diagnostic and
therapeutic assessments; evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of
foot, ankle and lower extremity conditions; wound care; minor
office-based procedures within scope of practice; referral and
follow-up of patients; and other duties as assigned. Ensures
continuity of care of patients. Performs evaluations on patients
with diabetes to prevent, detect, and manage conditions that affect
the foot and ankle such as neuropathies, arthropathies, and
vasculopathies. Educates patients on foot care and follows up
regularly. Communicates significant findings and treatment or
management plans with primary care providers to ensure timely
follow up. Leads assigned clinical support staff within the patient
care team to provide excellent and accessible preventive, acute and
chronic podiatric care to established patients and to address the
needs of patients and their families. Assists patients in obtaining
community resources, referrals and other services as clinically
indicated by the center’s diverse populations, including referrals
to specialists such as vascular surgery, orthopedics,
endocrinology, and wound care services. Maintain accurate and
timely medical record documentation according to Zufall practices
and regulatory requirements. Participates in clinical performance
improvement activities and conducts peer reviews of colleagues’
charts as assigned. Attends regular meetings of the medical staff
and other meetings as deemed necessary by the Chief Medical
Officer. Participates in clinic operations by ensuring compliance
according to local, state and federal rules and regulations
governing podiatric practice, and ensures that licensing,
credentialing and educational activities are kept current and up to
date. Contributes to and follows established policies and protocols
for clinical care. Participates in community health initiatives
including health fairs and other educational activities as
directed. Participates in educational programs and continuing
education. Teaches and trains other health center staff and
students as needed. Maintains membership in professional and
organizational associations, as appropriate. Performs other related
duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer. Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities To perform successfully, the
individual must be able to perform the essential duties
satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the
knowledge, skill and ability required. Graduation from an
accredited college of podiatric medicine and possession of a DPM
degree. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to
relate well to a diverse group of patients and staff. Able and
willing to work on an as-needed basis in order to meet operational
needs of the clinic. Proficient with computers, and knowledge of
Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel. Bicultural,
bilingual and community health experience valued and ability to
speak both English and Spanish strongly preferred. Education,
Training, Experience Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from
an accredited college of podiatric medicine. Successful completion
of an approved podiatric residency program accredited by the
Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME). Board-qualified or
Board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM)
and/or the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS), as
applicable. Possession of a current, valid license to practice
podiatric medicine in New Jersey in good standing. Possession of a
valid DEA and CDS registration. BLS and ACLS Certifications Minimum
1-year clinical practice or experience providing direct patient
care in an ambulatory care setting.
