Job Description:
Job Description Job Description /n Utilizes technology that
merges radiopharmaceutical imaging technology with other forms for
medical imaging technology for diagnostic purposes. Operates
Nuclear Medicine, Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT) and Single
Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) equipment. /n Job
Responsibility /n /n /n - * Prepares patient for exam./n /n -
Explains procedure to patient in easy-to-understand terms based on
professional knowledge. /n - Screens for pregnancy and ensures
consent form for administration of IV contrast materials has been
obtained. /n - Sets up equipment appropriately to administer
prescribed procedure in a timely fashion. /n - Positions patient
for scanning according to departmental standard operating
procedures. /n /n - * Performs various exams using Nuclear
Medicine, PET/CT and SPECT/CT equipment./n /n - Prepares
radiopharmaceuticals according to activity and quantity required
for prescribed exam. /n - Dispenses prescribed radiopharmaceuticals
to patient for oral ingestion or administers through venipuncture
and intravenous injection. Utilizes appropriate flush technique for
existing IV lines, as required. /n - Disposes of radioactive waste
and surveys exam area for radiation according to established
protocols. /n /n - * Prepares images/films for clinical review and
assignment to record./n /n - Labels films/images with accurate
patient demographics and required exam specific information. /n -
Assesses films/images for quality and accuracy of information. /n -
Completes necessary paperwork and prepares films/images for
Radiologist interpretation. /n /n - * Performs various quality
control measures according to established policies, procedures, and
regulations./n /n - Performs quality control procedures on prepared
radiopharmaceutical kit/dose prior to patient administration. /n -
Performs regular quality control activities on dosing equipment. /n
- Maintains and monitors radioactive waste according to NYS
regulations. /n - Performs blood cell labeling according to
protocols. /n /n - Performs related duties as required. /n /n *ADA
Essential Functions /n Job Qualification /n /n /n - Graduate of an
accredited Nuclear Medicine program, required. /n - Current New
York State Department of Health licensure as a Nuclear Medicine
Technologist, required. /n - R.T. (N) registration with American
Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) OR CNMT registration
with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB),
required. /n - Current R.T.(CT) registration with American Registry
of Radiological Technologists (ARRT), OR NMTCB (CT) certification
with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB),
required. /n - Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification,
required. /n - Prior experience in Nuclear Medicine, required. /n -
Ability to communicate effectively. /n /n *Additional Salary Detail
