Certified Medical Coder
This role will be responsible for ensuring all coding is the most
accurate and specific and encompasses all valid diagnosis codes and
services rendered. This individual would report to the Revenue
Cycle Manager. There will be a strong focus on accuracy and
appropriateness of coding.

colleague. This individual must be able to manage multiple

providers and other staff are based all over the United States, so
we are looking for someone who has the flexibility to communicate
effectively - verbally and in writing - with colleagues around the
country.

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze providers' documentation to select the most specific and
accurate diagnosis (ICD-10) and procedure (CPT I and II, HCPCS)
codes.
- Ensure compliance with established coding guidelines, third party
reimbursement policies, regulations and accreditation
guidelines.
- Provide a variety of complex and technical assignments relating
to medical coding.
- Maintain reports on a weekly and monthly basis to providers and
directly associated staff.
- Communicate with providers and other staff on weekly basis, about
outstanding items and required corrections.
- Distribute monthly audit reports and answer any questions or
concerns that arise about the reports from providers.
- Train individual providers and staff if needed to specific coding
requirements and organize and led formal training sessions for
groups of providers on common issues.
- Resolve discrepancies on coding related issues.
- Review and correct rejected claims from various third-party
carriers.
- Perform all other coding duties as assigned by management.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of coding experience required/ Preferred areas of
coding: Primary care and/or Behavioral Health
- Education: High school diploma or GED required/ associate degree
preferred
- Certification: Certification in Professional Coding (CPC)
required/ Certification in Risk Adjustment Coding (CRC)
preferred
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
- Work several days per week out of our headquarters in Hauppauge,
NY
- Detail oriented in approach to objectives and associated
tasks
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work in a multi-state practice which deals heavily
with telemedicine and home-based care.
- Understanding of how licensures which including, physicians,
nurse practitioners and behavioral health specialists impact
coding.
- Self-starter, with high energy but also flexibility to shift
directions quickly as the business requires it.
- Can effectively multitask across many different tasks to ensure
high-priority tasks are completed on-time.
- Ability to work independently and in a highly virtual
environment, with colleagues all over the country.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships at multiple
levels inside the company and with a wide array of external
auditors, who review documentation and provide feedback.
- Open and accepting of suggestions, feedback and new ideas.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to adhere to a set
schedule.
