We seek an experience, motivated, and well versed Medical Insurance Biller and Collections Representative with excellent communication skills and who can adapt to being a part of a fast-moving industry leader.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- - - - - - - - -Breaking down an account and determining the reason (or reasons) there are unpaid or incorrectly paid dates of service from an insurance company
- - - - - - - - -Applying full understanding of how insurance works to be proactive & deter billing scenarios that could result in denial EOBs.
- - - - - - - - -Proper evaluation of insurance payments for accuracy and full understanding of patient's coverage and benefits
- - - - - - - - -Full understanding of par vs. non par and how that affects both billing procedures & claims payment
- - - - - - - - -Assuring excellent collection rate each month
- - - - - - - - -Through an assigned work queues, the Accounts Receivable Specialist I will follow protocols to determine best course of action to follow up on open receivables.
- - - - - - - - -Applies strong working knowledge of all aspects of billing and collections including billing policies, regulations, diagnosis and procedure coding, and applicable to determine resolution.
- - - - - - - - -Researches root issue of denial. Apply knowledge of payer policies to pursue proper course of appeal or follow up to obtain payment.
- - - - - - - - -Reviews account history for continuous follow up.
- - - - - - - - -Addresses incoming correspondence and respond timely to ensure prompt resolution. Prepares correspondence to insurance companies, patient and/or guarantor, as necessary.
- - - - - - - - -Contacts insurance companies and/or patient/guarantor through phone contact, correspondence, online portals and other approved means to obtain status of outstanding claims and submitted appeals.
- - - - - - - - -Documents clearly in billing system the claim issue and course of action taken on every account worked. Documentation and action must be clearly noted for future follow up and review.
- - - - - - - - -Escalates issues and problems to Supervisor as appropriate.
- - - - - - - - -Identifies trends or pattern of persistent problems.
- - - - - - - - -Performs demographic and insurance coverage updates on account as appropriate and bill new insurance as appropriate.
- - - - - - - - -Performs other job duties as required and assigned, but not limited to job functions within the area of accounts receivable follow up.
- - - - - - - - -Conforms to all applicable HIPAA, Billing Compliance and safety policies and guidelines.
Role Requirements:
1-2 years experience in a professional setting, preferably healthcare Familiarity with medical terminology and insurances
Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid and/or private insurance guidelines or policies.
Proficient in computer software, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. AS400 (Iseries) a plus
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and verbally
Excellent Customer Service Skills
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written, with physicians, employees, and patients to ensure questions and concerns are processed in a timely manner
Helpful, knowledgeable and polite while maintaining a positive attitude
Multi-task along with attention to detail
Self-motivation, organized, time management and deductive problem solving skills
Work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME)
Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information

Physical Demands of the Position:
Hours of talking and hearing on a daily basis
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
Requires close vision to small print on computer and or paperwork
Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking (phone and in person), or listening
Routine walking and standing for long periods of time
Use of hands to write, use computers and manipulate paper
