Program Director at Project Music Organization Project Music
started in 2014 in Stamford, CT. Inspired by El Sistema's founding
vision, Project Music's mission is to create a pathway for students
to reach their fullest potential by using music education and the
pursuit of excellence as the vehicle to develop fundamental life
skills. 120+ students are enrolled in Project Music across 4
community partner sites. Students hail from 25 different public
schools in Fairfield County, and their rich and diverse family
population represents more than 12 countries. Position Description
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director is a
reliable, organized, self-starter, and detail-oriented professional
with the capacity to effectively manage multiple programs, engage
appropriately with varying stakeholders of the organization, and
have the capacity to simultaneously consider larger strategic
vision while working within program day to day. This position will
oversee 2 other positions within Project Music: the Academic
Success Manager and the Site Coordinator. This is a mid-to-senior
level position and will have direct impact on the future
programmatic design of Project Music. Benefits & Organizational
Culture Full-time, exempt position with a salary: $60,000-$80,000
with health insurance (medical, vision, & dental) Approximately 20
observed holidays and organizational time off Up to 3 PTO weeks off

time acknowledged as community concerts sometimes fall on weekends
Employees must be based within 30 min commutable working distance
to Stamford, CT; all administrative work is home based. This is a
hybrid position. Free daily gourmet lunches during the academic
year Access to recording studio, practice rooms, etc. in a world
class performing arts center Responsibilities 60% Administrative
Manage and oversee recruitment and enrollment across all programs
Work with the Executive & Artistic Directors to provide insight on
program and schedule development Oversee and manage the Academic
Success Manager & Site Coordinator Together with the Artistic
Director, oversee coordination and logistics of King El Sistema
Residency This is a seminario event bringing together 6-8 el
sistema-inspired programs from across the Northeast. Approximately
125 students plus teaching artists, administrators, and parents
participate each year. Manage logistics and coordination with
community partners including Stamford Public School District, First
Student busing, Orchestra Lumos, Norwalk Symphony, and GCTYO.
Manage & oversee Parent Committee and parent meetings 2 fundraiser
events annually (Fall & Spring) Act as liaison between parent
committee and Executive & Artistic Director Help plan and oversee
execution of summer programming at community partner sites Manage
enrollment for summer programming across external partners Manage
logistics of professional development opportunities for Teaching
Artists Track time sheets for all teaching artists Revise/edit and
distribute parent handbook annually Provide strategic input for
program development Manage daily operations of programming Provide
weekly reports to Executive Director Prepare monthly reports for
Board 30% Teaching Lead an ensemble within Project Music's
ecosystem Dependent upon candidate's musical expertise Teach a
weekly sectional class Dependent upon candidate's musical expertise
5-10% Performing Rehearse and perform as a member of the Project
Music Collective, a professional performing ensemble comprised of
teaching artists and staff of Project Music. This is a new program
that will be launched in Fall 2023 Estimated 4 concerts per
academic year Qualifications Previous experience and success
teaching music in a group setting Previous success managing
part-time staff and/or volunteers Previous success working with K12
students Preferred but not required: experience working with youth
from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds Exceptional time
management and organizational skills Excel in a fast-paced, dynamic
work environment Ability to 'get the job done' at a high level
Qualifications (cont.) Flexibility, adaptability, persistence,
patience, humility, and a sense of humor will serve you more in
this role than pure skill Strong communication both written and
verbal skills Highly preferred but not required: Spanish fluency
both spoken and written More importantly, are you willing to learn?
Skills Ability to work within Google G Suite, Notion ecosystem,
Wave, & Gusto platforms Ability to lift 25 lbs to transport
