Job Description
The Portfolio & Operations Management (POM) group within the Data &
Analytics (D&A) division develops, maintains, and supports the
application of leading portfolio management practices and
operational processes to the work performed by other D&A
departments. The group enables D&A to deliver analytical
insights of high value, and to do so in the most efficient and
effective ways. The intern for POM will gain experience in a
variety of disciplines including operational process design,
program and project management, as well as organizational
development and change management. An MBA candidate focusing their
studies in the areas of operations, project management, or
consulting will have an enriching and well-rounded experience as an
intern within the POM group.
The internship project will be a workstream within the existing
Portfolio Management Office Design Program. The goal of this
program is to elevate the maturity level of portfolio, program, and
project management capabilities and practices within D&A. The
benefits to D&A and Otsuka are greater efficiency and
productivity with D&A enabling us to focus on the most
value-added work and deliver it in the most effective manner
possible. As mentioned above the intern will be helping to drive
the design and implementation of one process out of several planned
process implementations. Depending on the timing of the internship,
the intern may participate in additional process development
efforts.
Specifically, the intern will:
- Participate in the development and implementation of a new
portfolio management process within the D&A organization.
- Collaborate with Otsuka full-time stakeholders in the
production of workflow diagrams and process narratives as well as
frameworks that support the process and definitions of all
parameters within the framework.
- Help design governance and organizational structures that
support new portfolio management methods.
- Provide program and project management support for one or more
strategic initiatives within the D&A Project Portfolio.
Qualifications/ Required
Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:
- The ideal intern for this role would be a solid MBA candidate
aspiring for a position in portfolio management, operations, and/or
consulting.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, such as PowerPoint, Excel,
Word, Visio
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional
team
- Familiarity with collaboration tools, such as SharePoint and MS
Teams
- Course work on operations and/or portfolio, program, and
project management a plus
Educational Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an MBA program at an AACSB accredited college or
university
- Must have completed at least the 1st year of MBA level studies
prior to this internship
- Demonstrates behaviors aligned with the Otsuka Corporate Brand
