JOB SUMMARYWorks with the Executive Team, the Regional Vice Presidents, and Regional Safety Teams to create a safety and environmental strategy that can be implemented across the organization. Accountable for planning, developing, implementing and measuring of safety & incident prevention policies, programs and training. Ensures safety and environmental programs are consistently administered throughout the regions and comply with company policies and industry regulatory requirements.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESActively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.Works with the executive management team and the operations leaders to create a safety & environmental strategy that can be implemented across the organization. Accountable for measuring and providing updates to the leadership of the company on the implementation of the strategy and performance.Understands leading change across a large organization and be able to implement appropriate change management strategies to ensure that the organization is able to embrace and implement the safety & environmental strategy and associated tactics.Implements safety standards/expectations and facilitate site-specific systems designed to significantly reduce employee injuries and illnesses.Works with management to implement and institutionalize changes to continuously raise performance and to integrate superior practices and high expectations into culture.Monitors, analyzes enterprise-wide metrics including leading and lagging indicators to ensure continuous improvement.Ensures consistency throughout the company in all aspects of safety & environmental standards to include, but not limited to policies, training, compliance and procedures.Effectively communicates with management regarding current safety performance, potential hazards, serious incidents, regulatory inquiries and changes to guidelines affecting safety policies and procedures.Oversees and conduct incident review meetings as needed.Oversees the review and updates of safety policies and manuals.Oversees safety & environmental audit program to document compliance to standards and safety program effectiveness.Oversees the process/ procedures in place for incident investigation reporting and identify trends.Responsible for hiring, training, development and performance management of staff.Point of contact for external inquiries related to safety & environmental compliance matters.Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice as needed.Performs other duties as requested.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSRequired Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishAbility to use personal computer and software applicationsAbility to work independentlyAbility to differentiate between different sizes and colorsAbility to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devicesAbility to supervise and motivate othersAbility to maintain confidentialityBasic knowledge of fire prevention programsBasic knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulationsBasic knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods for safety & environmental managementBasic knowledge of safety & environmental auditing, incident investigation and reportingValid driver's licenses with satisfactory driving record within Company required standardsRequired EducationBachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in safety, environmental health or related field, or equivalent experienceRequired Related Work Experience and Number of YearsProgressively responsible safety & environmental related experience - 10+Management experience - 3+Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety Manager (CSM), or Certified Safety & Health Officer (CSHO), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreferred Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeBasic knowledge of company products and servicesBasic knowledge of Microsoft office productsPreferred EducationPreferred Related Work Experience and Number of YearsLarge company/Utility experience 5+ years15-20 years Environmental, Health and Safety related experience5-10 years Environmental, Health, and Safety management experienceWORKING CONDITIONSOffice environmentField exposureModerate/Extended TravelExposure to moderate noise levelsWork and travel in inclement weatherWork outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or nightPHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSPhysical RequirementsAbility to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather.
