Job Description:

Description. Position Summary IT is increasingly becoming a critical enabler of value creation and growth through new capabilities and new experiences, delivered at scale with agility in an increasingly diverse and complex, global environment. This dynamic environment requires clarity around visions and alignment around strategies to deliver against them, balancing pragmatic choices with long-term big bets. While our IT strategy should enable the corporate strategy, we want to go further through transforming and leading. This requires us to be bold, forward thinking, impactful influencers, crisp communicators, and strategic thought partners. We need to define highly ambitious, yet achievable roadmaps and mechanisms deliver against our strategies. Success is ultimately seen through the realized impact (financial or otherwise). The IT strategy needs to guide the overall maturing and modernization of technical capabilities, staying aligned or even ahead of technology trends to be ready for what the future brings. It also needs to enable specific business outcomes, both around growth and operational effectiveness. The scope of the IT strategy is broad and needs to consider multiple dimensions. While global scale is an important lever for total impact, brands, regions, functions have unique needs and opportunities. The IT strategy needs to balance and prioritize focus, but more importantly define opportunities for brands/regions/functions to accelerate global agendas and vice versa. The IT strategy also needs to align with our online strategy as well as our marketing and data strategy, delivering a unified technology strategy for Estee Lauder Companies. The Director of IT strategy will report to the VP of IT innovation, strategy, and architecture. They will be part of a broader team steering the direction for technology enablement: What could we do (innovation), what will we do (strategy, this role) and how (enterprise architecture team). The role is a highly integrative role, working across the enterprise, listening, learning, influencing, shaping, and guiding. It will equally be about articulating a direction for alignment as well as supporting, guiding, and coaching the execution along that direction. This includes working with leaders within IT, but also executives across the enterprise. On executing and measuring the success of our strategy, they will partner particularly closely with the portfolio management team as well as finance. Beyond end-to-end technology strategy, there will be specific agendas and transformations where the Director of IT Strategy will be more closely involved due to the strategic imperative of that agenda. Topics that have particularly complicated inter-dependencies will also look to them for support in driving alignment, connecting "dots", and resolving complex issues. Responsibilities for the Director of IT Strategy include: Facilitate the annual refresh of our threeyear technology strategy and long-range plan (LRP). Breaking down top-down priorities to influence bottoms-up plans, working closely with IT leaders across sub-functions. Closely partner with portfolio management and finance teams to ensure budgets and plans align with and progress the technology strategy. Support executive engagements and presentations, including quarterly strategic alignment meetings with leaders of brands, regions, and functions. Engage with CIO and other IT leaders directly on specific strategic imperatives - help shape way forward, structure a path through interdependencies and drive alignment. Bridging conversations from opportunity or problem definition through to established delivery mechanisms (delivery of project, products, and platforms). Engage with our Online and Enterprise Marketing & Data functions to establish and deliver on unified technology strategies across functions. Qualifications. The ideal candidate for the role of Director, IT Strategy: Has prior experience with shaping technology strategies for global corporations, e.g. through management consulting roles or similar technology strategy roles. Has a keen curiosity for technology and market trends. Has excellent written and verbal communication skills for executive presentations. Enjoys leveraging and/or creating frameworks to structure and simplify complex topics. Has empathetic listening skills to fully understand business and other context relevant to shaping a path forward. Is an effective influencer, through nurturing professional relationships, establishing trusting partnerships and share fresh perspectives.
