Community Health Center of Stamford - 5th Street Job Description Summary:Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), with offices in Connecticut, Colorado and California, is one of the country's most creative and dynamic providers of primary medical, dental, and behavioral health services, and a leader in practice-based research, health professionals training, and use of innovative technologies to advance health and healthcare. CHC is designated as a federally qualified health center and a patient-centered medical home by HRSA, the Joint Commission, and NCQA, respectively. We deliver more than 500,000 patient visits per year from primary care hubs and community clinics across the state of Connecticut, all connected by technology and common standards for quality. We employ several hundred medical, dental, and behavioral health providers who are engaged in practice, teaching, and research. Our Weitzman Institute is devoted to research and practice transformation and is recognized around the country as one of the premier research institutes focused on improving health care and health outcomes for special and vulnerable populations. In addition, the organization has developed three wholly owned subsidiaries from the original pilot developments within the Weitzman Institute: the National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Training Consortium (NNPRFTC), the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA), and ConferMed.Job Description:The Vice President of Development, a newly created position, will lead and direct fundraising initiatives for a prominent national organization focused on the health of the underserved and training the next generation of healthcare leaders. This new VP position represents the organization's commitment to strategically expand existing private fundraising efforts. He/she will oversee stewardship, prospecting, solicitation and moves management and will set goals, create internal systems, oversee all activities and evaluate results and metrics to ensure that development goals are achieved. The VP will provide leadership, day-to-day management, vision and inspiration, and will build a development program to rival and surpass others in the sector.
-DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the CEO on developing and implementing a development strategy, creating an overall strategic plan for a comprehensive and integrated fundraising approach working across multiple channels, ensuring the necessary resources are in place to support the organization's long-term vision and growth.
  • Give strategic direction and oversight to the planning, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of high-profile relationships;
  • Conduct a feasibility study and lead a multi-million dollar campaign for the organization's 50th anniversary (launching 5.1.22) and accompany the Founder/CEO and Board on solicitations and personally conduct major gift solicitations;
  • Partner with the VP of Communications in the preparation of meaningful and effective customized collateral, a compelling case for support, and all messaging for donors and prospects;
  • Work with the Communications Department on developing and executing donor briefings and events, which may be virtual;
  • Establish performance measures, monitor results, and provide reporting and analysis to assess effectiveness of the fundraising strategy and tactics;
  • Create Development budget and manage resources to maximize impact and reach;
  • Oversee data management, including reporting, gift acknowledgements, and accounting;
  • Hire and manage Development staff with fundraising experience, including donor database management and prospect research.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • A minimum of 10 years of professional fundraising/development experience, with a clear record of achievement in a complex, mission-driven organization; 5+ years in a management capacity;
    • Experience in legacy giving, corporate solicitations, private foundation proposal writing, and individual major donor initiatives;
    • Ideal candidate will have broad experience working for a national level organization with a global perspective; for-profit experience combined with nonprofit experience highly desired;
    • Flexible, adaptive, and innovative management style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives;
    • Exceptional management skills with a history of success building a high performing team that delivers an integrative, balanced fundraising program;
    • Experience with prospecting and finding creative ways to reach new prospects and donors;
    • High level of comfort communicating information to a wide range of audiences, from Major Donors to the general public;
    • Proven ability to develop a personal rapport with high net worth individuals and sources of influence;
    • Superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with various internal and external constituencies, successfully navigating and cultivating relationships to build support for new initiatives;
    • Ability to effectively use a variety of development computer programs and software;
    • Exceptional communications skills, both oral and written;
    • BA required; MA or higher preferred;
