The Global Capital Markets Specialist will be primarily responsible for supporting our global business with appropriate content, thought leadership and educational material around key capital markets items, including ETF primary market trends, liquidity and trading considerations in fixed income ETFs, ETFs as a price discovery vehicle, developments in market structure. The candidate will work closely with our partners and clients and ensuring all aspects of key topical items are covered. In addition, the Capital Markets Specialist will be responsible for researching and developing project-driven initiatives, creating thought leadership, and fielding business inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the content strategy for the ETF Global Capital Markets business for clients
  • Deliver high quality-viewpoints and thought leadership pieces that are relevant, timely and demonstrate strong command of topical themes across ETF Capital Markets, including ETF primary market trends, liquidity and trading considerations in fixed income ETFs, ETFs as a price discovery vehicle, developments in market structure, aligning to commercial goals
  • Write and edit white papers, op-eds and scripts for consumption across multiple channels
  • Partner with senior Distribution and Marketing leaders to manage and execute on appropriate Capital Markets strategies to support lead generation and sales conversations globally
  • Working in partnership with key stakeholder groups across Sales, Strategy, Marketing Investment Management and Capital Markets
  • Maintain and improve a centralized, global editorial calendar for brand thought leadership and regional commercial content
  • Partner with Marketing / Analytics team to measure success and recommend improvements to the content strategy and approach
  • Explore and establish innovative new ways of communicating thought leadership beyond traditional white papers and blogs working in collaboration with business development
  • Work closely with Compliance and the Digital team to produce and maintain timely and relevant content on SPDR's websites globally
  • Partner closely with PR, social, design and digital team members to promote distinctive thought leadership pieces and ideas
    Internal Partnerships
    • Deliver risk excellence and support the business as a whole through internal and external relationship development
    • Collaborate with teams across SSGA and other State Street business divisions to deliver full 360 perspectives
    • Work closely in alignment with Americas and EMEA & APAC Heads of Capital Markets, to ensure strategy and priorities across key internal partners
    • Specific to the SPDR Business outside of Capital Markets, you will work collaboratively with:
      • Distribution
      • ETF Sales Strategy
      • Marketing
      • Product
      • Investments
      • Trading
        Required Skills or Certifications
        • Well-developed technical knowledge of ETFs, Liquidity and Investments, particularly for a sophisticated, institutional investor audience
        • Strong technical knowledge of underlying Fixed Income markets and ETF markets.
        • Deep understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction, liquidity, understanding of derivatives markets and insights into trading of ETFs, asset owning institutions and the investment management industry, strong knowledge of Fixed Income markets preferred
        • Proven ability to generate differentiated thought leadership ideas - and a willingness to innovate and test new content platforms and ideas
        • Excellent writer with meticulous attention to detail
        • Ability to successfully operate in a matrixed environment
        • Excellent communications skills, including ability to effectively interact with senior executives, investment teams, marketing and sales teams across the globe
        • Strong influencing skills to secure key stakeholder buy-in
        • Strong project management and organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects, changing priorities and key partners at the same time
        • Ability to translate complex investing ideas through story telling
        • Experience working with globally diverse teams and audiences
        • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Economics, Finance, Communications, Marketing or equivalent is preferable
        • audiences in the investment management industry
        • Financial journalism background a plus
          The ideal candidate will have relevant technical and education requirements :
          • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or a similar field in preferable
          • 6-8+ years of experience in the financial services industry - ETF Trading and pricing, market making, risk management/ liquidity and writing of commentary or thought leadership
          • Demonstrate the ability to work with large data sets, analyze the information and identify patterns, trends, noteworthy items relevant for the ETF investor
          • Have an ability to take complex information and distil into concise take-ways for end clients
          • Knowledge of ETF mechanics - create/redeem process, fees, ETF clearing and settlement operations, custody
          • Background experience in the ETF/project management
          • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel skills, VBA, PowerPoint, Word and Bloomberg
          • Programming languages (Python, BQNT, others) a plus
          • Strong critical thinking skills with ability to frame business issues and apply data analysis to support strategic decision-making
          • Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate industry and product knowledge
          • Ability to build relationships within our team, across our organization, and with our clients
          • Strong aptitude for multi-tasking
          • Enthusiasm for the industry, a positive attitude, and a drive to succeed
          • You have strong ethics and integrity with a strong risk radar and dedicated approach to resolve issues
          • You are confident and credible to achieve consensus with both internal and external parties, with well-rounded communication skills to enable articulation of complex matters in straight-forward manner
          • You have professional curiosity to identify and drive improvements and opportunities with a willingness to get into the detail and frame the solution
          • You are a good influencer and have strong partnering skill - with clients and stakeholders.
