We're looking for a rock star Director of Public Relations & Corporate Communications to join our growing team to help us achieve this lofty goal. Reporting directly to the CMO, the Director of Public Relations & Corporate Communications--will lead our efforts to bring the Tomo brand to life through strategic and creative storytelling, media and public relations, executive communications, thought leadership, reputation management and public affairs. In this role, you will harness your extensive experience and deep relationships with consumer, business, technology, financial and trade media to enable Tomo to capture the hearts and minds of journalists, reporters, economists, homebuyers, industry partners, and current and prospective employees alike. And you'll help craft and shape our corporate narrative with both internal and external stakeholders. You will

  • Lead all aspects of the PR and corporate communications functions to advance the company's corporate narrative and market position, and help us achieve our OKRs.
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with target media and influencers across consumer, business, technology and financial and trade (mortgage, title, real estate, etc.) sectors.
  • Partner with key company executives and collaborators (e.g., brand, econ, product marketing, industry, sales/ops, finance, etc.) to drive creative storytelling and compelling company and executive platforms.
  • Oversee media training for spokespeople across the company to build thought provoking points of view that advance our narrative, and increase our relevance to core audiences.
  • Own measurement, reporting and continuous improvement of communications and PR programs, to positively impact relevant OKRs.
  • Create and shape content for executive communications and thought leadership, including narratives, messaging, briefing docs, scripts, talking points, press releases, blog posts, bylines and more.
  • Ensure successful company message pull-through by owning key messaging docs and communication calendars.
  • Lead, mentor and support a combined team of internal and external marketers and communications specialists. You'll need
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 10+ years of Corporate Communications and/or Public Relations experience supporting venture-backed, high-growth tech companies. Experience pitching meaningfully disruptive new entrants in the internet/ecommerce, real estate and/or fintech space is especially relevant.
    • Proven track record building and executing strategically sound and creatively compelling PR programs to deliver tangible business outcomes across consumer, business, technology, real estate, financial services and related audiences.
    • Experience building a world-class corporate communications function that spans internal communications, reputation management, crisis and issues preparedness and public/government affairs.
    • Proven success leveraging economic data, consumer insights, culture and topical relevance, creativity and (occasionally) pure grit & tenacity to secure exceptional media coverage.
    • Experience forging trusted relationships with internal and external parties to uncover unique stories, platforms and opportunities.
    • Consistent track record of working with C-level executives, as well as leaders across multiple teams including Brand, Product/Engineering, Sales/Ops, Finance, and People.
    • Established relationships with key media contacts and influencers across the consumer, housing, financial services and technology/internet/e-commerce categories
    • Exceptionally strong writing and editorial skills, with experience translating complex and occasionally dense concepts into compelling stories that resonate - both intellectually and emotionally - with intended audiences.
    • Experience managing external PR/Comms agencies to achieve their best work, delivering out-sized results on time and on budget.
    • Must truly love this stuff! You may also have
      • Internet/e-commerce experience preferred
      • Proven success pitching fintech and/or proptech stories to consumer press
      • Experience working in both in-house and agency environments preferred
