POSITION TITLE
Vice President, Head of Trading

LOCATION
Stamford, CT

This position is available to Connecticut, New Jersey and New York residents as Stamford, CT in-office applicants.

YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the Genworth Chief Investment Officer and as key member of the Investments leadership team, the Vice President, Head of Trading will lead, manage and develop a team of investment professionals trading public and 144a fixed income instruments. In this business-critical role, you will lead a team in evaluating investments and relative value opportunities across asset classes and managing existing investment positions.
Additionally, you will have considerable interaction with Research, Portfolio Management, Investments Risk, Private Placements, Commercial Real Estate and the Investment Leadership Team in setting and executing strategy, goals, and objectives, not only for the immediate trading group, but for the broader Investments team as well.
Consistently evaluating, testing and adjusting our processes to manage financial, accounting and operational risks will also form a key part of the role.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
--- Provide leadership of the trading team and oversight of managing to Genworth investment goals
--- Utilize knowledge of broad market movements, the economy and events to determine impact on our portfolios and make recommendations for any subsequent trading actions
--- Drive exposure management sales decisions in collaboration with research team
--- Lead trading group's communication efforts to report on and discuss markets in morning meetings, weekly and monthly reviews and to discuss trends and their impact to both our portfolios and Genworth
--- Responsible for developing and ensuring appropriate back-up trading for all asset classes and for training traders
--- Partner with trading, research and other teams to define theme and structure for quarterly sector performance reviews and present those and other market or portfolio reports to senior management
--- Generate ideas for improvements and new initiatives
--- Develop tactical strategies and relative value ideas for existing portfolios and new investments
--- Use thorough knowledge of Genworth's portfolio objectives, parameters and existing holdings to make decisions and recommendations to best fit needs and work to influence across Investments on key ideas and objectives
--- Collaborate with other teams and leaders to develop functional goals and objectives and influence broader Investment goals
--- Maintain strong relationships with the counterparty dealers and other industry leaders and work to maintain and improve Genworth's standing with outside participants
--- Ensure department adherence to risk, compliance and accounting policies and procedures

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
--- Bachelor's degree in Finance or related area(s) of study
--- 10+ years of trading experience in one or more fixed income asset classes for an insurance company, major institutional investor or similar institution
--- Demonstrated experience and commitment to hiring, developing and leading a diverse and highly engaged team
--- Strong proven leadership capabilities including the ability to influence senior leaders and make tough decisions
--- Extensive knowledge of asset classes and fixed income markets
--- Strong verbal and written communication skills
--- Exemplary trading and analytical skills
--- Experience working with analytical tools such as Bloomberg, Aladdin, Trepp, Intex, etc.
--- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment
--- Demonstrated ability to quickly assess information and act with urgency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
--- MBA or equivalent degree
--- Insurance company background
--- Experience trading two or more asset classes
--- CFA or candidacy
