Vice President, Major Gifts and Campaigns Vice President, Major
Gifts and Campaigns Stamford, CT POSITION The Vice President for
Major Gifts and Campaigns is charged with increasing philanthropic
support in all CVN
clinic markets. As a key leadership team member and an important
contributor to strategic decisions, the VP will
have significant impact on CVN's fundraising activities. In
partnership with the CEO and SVP for Advancement,
this position is primarily responsible for major gift and campaign
development activities. The successful
candidate will help forge new relationships to build Cohen Veterans
Network's visibility, impact, and financial
resources. The VP will design and implement a comprehensive major
gift feasibility study and campaign plans,
immediately focused on network-wide feasibility studies and, where
appropriate, fundraising campaigns for
developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and
philanthropic support.
The VP will contribute to establishing and implementing the
infrastructure needed to grow a major portion of
the network's financial sustainability through the solicitation of
major gifts, campaigns, and other revenue
streams identified in the course of fund development work. The VP
will expand and diversify Cohen Veterans Network's donor
base/pipeline and will work closely with other
team members to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition,
the VP will work closely with the CEO and the
SVP of Advancement in supporting clinic directors and network
champions as they take on an active fundraising
role at the local level across 25 communities where the clinics are
located.
The VP will systematically and effectively strengthen the
organization's overall fundraising capacity. It is
expected that the sustainment funding goals for Cohen Veterans
Network will increase in future years. RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
--- Support and partner with the CEO and SVP of Advancement on all
major gift, feasibility studies and campaign
fundraising initiatives.
--- Collaborate with the Sr. VP, Finance to coordinate Cohen
Veterans Network's advancement funding into the
overall financial strategy.
--- Develop and execute on proposals with an eye toward developing
and maintaining long-term relationships
with funders.
--- Take a prospective approach to managing the pipeline of donors
and expected donations to help position
Cohen Veterans Network ahead of major funding changes or
trends.
--- Track all donor conversations, meetings, notes and gifts in
Salesforce, CVN's donor management system.
--- Monitor donor information; provide and present statistical
analysis to CVN senior leaders.
--- Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at
cultivating deeper ties with donors.
--- Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development
program.
--- Develop and mentor the development team; identify, recruit, and
mentor new hires as necessary.
Allocation of Time:
--- 80% Advancement activities/fundraising
--- 15% Marketing and Communications, network events, and clinic
community activities
--- 5% Other QUALIFICATIONS --- Ten-plus years of professional
experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in
a
development role (managing and forging relationships with multiple
donor sources, particularly capital
campaigns)
--- Proven ability to attract donor sponsorship, plan and lead
feasibility studies and fundraising campaigns,
organize fundraising events, and build and manage philanthropy
efforts
--- Tangible experience with expanding and cultivating donor
relationships over time
--- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written
and oral; ability to influence and engage a
wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
--- Strong organizational skills; goal-focused orientation
--- Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively
impact both strategic and tactical fundraising
initiatives
--- Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but
also a team player who will productively
engage with others at varying levels within and outside CVN
--- High energy and deep passion for the Cohen Veterans Network's
mission; a can-do, no fail attitude
--- Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Suite, and other program
management software (such as Smartsheet)
--- Veteran, Military Spouse, or experience in the veteran
community a plus
--- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Must be
able to travel to CVN clinic locations; if not
located in Stamford, must be able to work out of the Stamford
office at least a few days a month.
