Cohen Veterans Network is a not-for-profit philanthropic organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for veterans, including those from the National Guard and Reserves, and their families. CVN works to strengthen mental health outcomes and complement existing support, with a particular focus on post-traumatic stress as well as other mental health conditions. Their vision is to ensure that every veteran and family member has access to high-quality care that enables them to lead fulfilling and productive lives. Cohen Veterans Network (CVN) -was founded by philanthropist Steven A. Cohen who made a $275M commitment to launch a network of mental health clinics in 2016 to serve post-9/11 veterans and their families ( -To build its network, CVN has developed a unique partnership model that provides multi-year support for the start-up and development of new Cohen Clinics in collaboration with independently governed and managed non-profit partner organizations in communities with a high concentration of veterans and limited mental health resources. - CVN's #1 Priority is access to quality care . - From researching and adopting evidence-based clinical practices to assuring the highest quality of care and outcomes; from building meaningful relationships with communities, veterans, and their families, to selecting network partners; and from start-up of clinics to training and support for staff - the focus of CVN is to deliver appropriate, personalized, confidential, genuine care from skilled professionals who have been trained to work specifically with veterans and their families. - Cohen Veterans Network currently operates 15 clinics, with 2 in the pipeline and 4 more planned by year's end. -The current goal is to open and support 25 clinics across the country. Each clinic provides targeted/short-term outpatient mental health care to post-9/11 veterans, regardless of discharge status or service experience. Veteran and active duty family members, as defined by the veteran, are eligible to receive care, as well. -Although the priority is to serve post-9/11 veterans, each Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic will assess all veterans based on their specific needs and will make every effort to see pre-9/11 veterans based on clinician availability. Ability to pay will not be a barrier to care and there is no cost for care if the veteran or family member does not have insurance. Transportation, childcare, and Case Management services are also offered to remove barriers to care. All clinics are CARF accredited and staffed by credentialed providers. Additionally, CVN Telehealth is available to assist clients who may not be able to come in person for their appointment. - Cohen Veterans Network has created the new role of Chief Clinical Officer -(CCO) as a leader of this emerging and rapidly expanding mental health care organization. -Reporting to the CEO, and as a member of the leadership team, the CCO will provide clinical leadership and strategic vision as CVN moves from its start-up and development phase to become a premier national network. -The CCO will have a broad portfolio encompassing the areas of mental health, psychiatry, substance use, case management, clinical practice and training, and other related services focusing on the needs of clinical staff as well as CVN's veterans and military family clients. The CCO will be the champion of clinical quality, risk/safety and innovation, and will work to create a culture of continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practices to support a learning mental health system. He/she will lead the development and implementation of network-wide clinical practice guidelines and ensure that all clinics within the network meet the highest professional standards of access, empirical quality care, and ethical service delivery. The CCO will stay current with trends in behavioral health care and advances in public policies necessary to improve health and wellbeing for veterans and their families and will provide network-wide oversight and guidance on matters of accreditation and licensure. The CCO will work closely with multiple CVN departments, particularly the EHR and data teams to utilize key performance indictor data to ensure network-wide operational efficiencies. - Our "ideal' candidate must: - Have a deep knowledge of the behavioral health field including clinical care best-practice models, preferably with military/veteran populations - Be a strategic thinker who can envision the future and drive operations to achieve bold goals - Be team-oriented with experience building and nurturing effective teams and working relationships with both internal and external partners - inclusiveness must be a core value - Have demonstrated experience and success creating an organizational culture and managing change and influencing others - Be an effective communicator who can influence others - Be decisive and action-oriented yet flexible and adaptable - Have exceptional analytic skills supported by the use of data - Have a PhD or PsyD in Psychology or a Masters in a related behavioral health field with firm grounding in evidence-based therapies. - Be experienced working in a multi-state or multi-site healthcare system with at least eight years of progressive leadership experience in a clinical setting CVN is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut and is home to the corporate leadership team. -Located just outside of New York City on Long Island Sound, Stamford is the second largest city in Connecticut and its fastest growing area. CVN's clinical operations team is based in Silver Spring, Maryland just outside of Washington, DC. -Leadership's preference would be for the CCO to reside in either the Stamford or Silver Spring, MD office. Travel between the two headquarters offices, together with visits to network partners, is expected to be 25% of the CCO's time.
