Description
Our Port and Marine Terminals (PMT) group is currently made up of teams across North America and globally. The group provides services for all phases of a port development project's life cycle, from planning through commissioning including detailed design, construction and operation. Our many achievements include delivering some of the world's highest profile container, oil and gas, dry bulk, cruise, and ferry marine terminal projects as well as shipyard and naval facilities. Your Opportunity
Our PMT Northeast Region is in search of a Structural Engineer. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work as part of the PMT team of planners, engineers and technologists on multiple projects for a range of public and private sector clients, including marine terminal operators, port authorities, NAVFAC, and offshore wind developers. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.
Your contribution on our professional consulting services team would be to work independently on projects of varying complexity, and as a senior member of a team and key player on projects. You would be responsible for developing, guiding and implementing our engineering tasks with up-to-date design tools and innovations. You would also supervise less-experienced engineers and consult on other business line projects containing waterfront components.
Your Key Responsibilities



  • Performs marine and waterfront engineering assignments that are broad and varied in nature, requiring sound application of technical codes, standards, and guidelines.


  • Performs and oversees engineering planning and design assignments.


  • Provides technical guidance, and mentoring of entry-level engineers


  • Analyzes complex problems, modifies methods, procedures, processes and proposes new alternative solutions.


  • Participates in or leads the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including contract documents.


  • Exercises initiative and independent judgment in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations and to resolve issues.


  • Ensures Stantec's engineering and design procedures and guidelines are consistently and correctly applied on projects, with an eye toward continuous improvement.


  • Coordinates with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals


  • Work collaboratively and support our business centers, design groups, senior leadership and specialists in other offices.


  • Prepares project reports and feasibility studies.


    Qualifications
    Your Capabilities and Credentials


    • Knowledgeable on interpretation and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable port and marine terminals standards and guidelines.


    • Skilled in technical and functional aspects of the role.


    • Demonstrates strong collaboration, facilitation, and teamwork skills.


    • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills.


    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain licensure in other states within 6 months of employment as needed.


    • Experience with structural analysis software, such as STAAD or RISA.


    • Experience with engineering design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MathCAD, Microsoft Project, and Optimoor.


    • Experience with foundation design software, such as Ensoft suite, FB Multipier, and Plaxis preferred.


    • Prior experience with US Federal agency engineering and construction projects (NAVFAC, USACE, USCG, etc.), or similar port and marine transportation entities is a plus.


      Education and Experience
      Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer.
      Minimum of 5 years of experience.

      Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
      Salary Range(s):

      • $86,600.00 - $125,600.00 (NYC location only)

        The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
