Job Description:

IVIONICS is looking for a Security Operations Center (SOC) Engineer to join our team. The Engineer will be based out of our Hauppauge office and is responsible for providing security support, maintenance, repair, and oversight of our SOC equipment, systems, and services.

The ideal candidate is prompt and reliable, has a willingness to learn and exhibits strong organizational and communication skills. He/she should be detail oriented and have a strong work ethic with a desire to foster their career in the IT Security industry.


  • Deliver expert service focused on the timely resolution of issues while exceeding IVIONICS and client expectations for quality and professionalism.
  • Manage and maintain internal IVIONICS Security systems include ConnectWise Perch, Threat Locker, System Patching, Webroot, StorageCraft, ITGlue and Auvik as well as proprietary software within the organization.
  • Manage and maintain IVIONICS Managed client systems including DUO, O365 and Webroot as well as proprietary software within the organization.
  • Identify and address incoming Cyber Security incidents for the SOC that will include system alerts, software, hardware and operating system security related incidents for all company and customer-supported technologies.
  • Escalate issues and requests to higher level (Engineering Teams, Application Development, 3rd-party Vendors, etc.) whenever necessary in accordance with pre-defined SLAs.
  • Working with Support and Solutions Teams on developing policies and goals for the department and ensuring those goals are in line with IVIONICS core values.
  • Ticket Queue Management for the center.
  • Providing direction and guidance to the center and individual engineers to achieve technical, communication, and other skills required to maintain successful relationships with clients.
  • Overseeing and ensuring quality and accuracy of the centers work based on processes and goals set.
  • Participate in inter-departmental planning meetings on suggested solutions for existing issues as well as systemic improvements.
  • Creating and developing performance and utilization reports for the center.
  • Organize and execute training sessions for new workflows and procedure recommendations.
  • Delegating responsibilities and workload within the center.
  • Experience managing resource allocation is a plus.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills is a plus.

    • Bachelors degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent work experience.
    • 3 plus years of full-time experience in a technical operations/support role.
    • Technical certification in a relevant technology discipline (CEH, Security+).
    • Must have reliable transportation, a valid NYS drivers license.
    • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
    • Excellent Customer Service skills.
    • Experience delivering 24/7 monitoring
    • Ability to conduct thorough investigations, including deep dives into root cause analysis and corrective action plan implementation
    • Able to work flexible shifts (7am-6pm, M-F, 8:30-5:30 Tues-Sat, 8:30-5:30 Sun-Thurs) and be available for 24x7 off-hours coverage rotation (nights & weekends).

      Technical Experience:

      Advanced working knowledge and understanding of:
      • Security support related technologies (SIEM, Threat Detection Systems, Vulnerability Management Systems, Application Control Systems, Security Awareness Training Programs, PowerShell)
      • Security related support tools (Metasploit, Nessus/OpenVAS Professional, Wireshark, BurpSuite)
      • Security protection related technologies (multifactor authentication, application control, encryption solutions, etc.)
      • Linux Operating Systems (Kali Linux)
      • Microsoft Windows version through Windows 10 Operating Systems for desktops & laptops
      • Microsoft Office versions through Office 365
      • Wireless devices and networks.
      • Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and associated services (DNS, WINS, DHCP, etc.).
      • Microsoft Azure and O365 services.
      • VMWare Virtual Platform.
      • Networking architecture and equipment (routers, firewalls, switches, cabling, VoIP, etc.)
      • Backup-related technologies (hardware/software and cloud solutions)
      • Hard Drive Imaging
      • Call Center Tools
