JOB SUMMARY A Senior IT Technical Writer is primarily responsible for designing, writing, revising and/or the editing of documentation related to IT Applications for external customer consumption. Responsible for writes, edits, and revisions of copy and documentation for various medium, technical and customer/end-user activities. Retrieve, organize, analyze and synthesize complex subject matter and transform it into easy-to-understand information for specific audiences. Employ various authoring and desktop publishing software tools to produce finished products that may include printed or electronic publications and integrated online copy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Composes technical information into clear, concise, print/PDF documentation and online help content for both technical and non-technical audiences according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Creates documentation written in a manner which can be understood by both technical and non-technical audiences and may include process flows, diagrams and narratives.
  • Reviews published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction.

  • Manages documentation projects, starting from initial planning through writing and editing, reviewing and revising, indexing, printing, production and delivery to client.
  • Participates in all phases of the Software Development LifeCycle (SDLC) to determine necessary documents that are needed prior to implementation of project deliverables.
  • Performs special projects and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures. Job Requirements:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or BA in English, journalism, technical writing or similar discipline.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an IT technical writing with progressive levels of experience preferred to include the authoring or publishing of user and/or technical documents.
    • Banking or financial services experience is a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
      • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
      • Proficient with desktop publishing tools.
      • Strong knowledge of industry standards as they relate to user and technical documentation.
      • Strong understanding of the project management lifecycle and SDLC.
      • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
      • Strong language skills and demonstrable understanding of the rules of English grammar and usage.
      • Proficient in organizing information in a way that is appropriate for technical explanations without losing sight of the needs and aptitude of the audience.
      • Strong documentation skills and working with templates and style guidelines for branding consistency.
      • Ability to absorb and retain complex processes.
      • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to interact effectively with internal and external clients, peers, management and cross-functional areas, to build relationships and use facilitation skills with both technical and non-technical personnel.
      • Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple priorities and tasks in a high pressure environment.
      • Keen attention to detail while maintaining the ability to see the big picture.
      • Ability to manage assigned initiatives and create the material well while maintaining a high-level of quality.
      • Effective time management and organizational skills essential.
