Risk and Settlements Analyst

Overview:The position will play a key role in monitoring,
reporting and managing risk related to physical and financial power
and fuel activities. In addition, the candidate will be responsible
for power and fuel settlements and reporting.
Risk Management Responsibilities: - Perform day-to-day monitoring
and analysis of energy market conditions. - Develop and administer
risk reporting (daily risk report, weekly credit report, quarterly
MTM report for financial statements, etc.). - Monitor brokerage
accounts and coordinate management of margin requirements. -
Develop and implement new valuation models, price curves, risk
measures and reports as needed to support the business. - Review
risk management processes and enhance efficiency through
automation. - Assist in evaluating, monitoring and implementing
risk management strategies.
Settlements Responsibilities: - Perform day-to-day monitoring and
reporting of plant operations (power revenue and fuel costs). -
Reconcile monthly fuel volume records between various entities
(plant operations, fuel manager, pipelines and/or local
distribution companies). - Evaluate payments from/ to the
independent system operator, fuel providers and other parties;
dispute amounts that are not correct. - Perform quarterly variance
analysis for management reporting. - Monitor emissions holdings,
exposures and prices. - Administer external reporting of power and
fuel information (EIA, FERC, etc.).
Knowledge/Experience: - Minimum 2 years of financial or energy
market experience or Master's Degree required - Knowledge of the
Northeastern and Midwest power (PJM / NYISO / ISO-NE) and natural
gas markets and/or power plant/trading operations is desirable. -
Programming knowledge (Excel VBA and API) is a strong plus. -
Experience with settlements processes and regulatory reporting is
desired. - Ability to interact with the commercial operations
(front office), treasury, accounting department and
internal/external auditors. - Ability to balance/prioritize tasks
as business conditions/environment change. - Excellent verbal and
written communication skills are required.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Business with 2 years of
relevant work experience or Master's Degree in
Business/Mathematics/Energy. - An advanced degree(s) and/or
professional designation(s) in finance, risk management computer
science, engineering, statistics or applied math are a plus.
