GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES This position, under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, will manage the day-to-day financial operations of the accounting department at a not-for-profit Agency and its affiliates that supports providers of services to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Will manage software including; Great Plains and QuickBooks. Prepares monthly financial reports including profit & loss statements, balance sheet and other reports as needed to meet prescribed deadlines. Duties will include staff supervision and training, monitoring of accounting functions and internal controls. ILLUSTRATIVE FEATURES OF THE CLASS * Responsible for the completion of the CFR schedules and other reports submitted to state agencies for appropriate reimbursement to the Agency as assigned. * Participates in Agency auditing process. Analyzes accounts by defining, describing and verifying numerical data for accuracy and reconciling to relevant information. * Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements. Records monthly journal entries and enters information into general ledger. Responds to problems that may arise and takes corrective actions. * Assists in the preparation of budget using financial statements, projected changes and estimated revenues. * Complete monthly reconciliation of all assigned A/R and revenue accounts. * Assists in special projects by collecting information and preparing related schedules. * Proficient in all areas relating to accounting software (Blackbaud Systems). Prepares new reports and maintains existing reports. * Preparation of monthly vouchers and record revenue for agency contracts. Assist in the preparation of annual contract renewals and reporting to local funding offices for agencies. * Processing of client income activity, such as Social Security payments, food stamp and monthly personal allowance payments. * Prepare monthly reconciliations for restricted and unrestricted contributions through coordination with the Community Resources department to ensure all contributions are reported correctly and within the proper net asset class. * Monitor and maintain the unrestricted and restricted net assets for the agencies. Must be able to prepare reports for management, Board of Directors and for the year-end audit of different net assets classes and their respective distributions. * Performs other duties as requested by supervisor. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Ability to mentor and train staff. * Instill a culture that emphasizes accountability and transparency among the team. * Knowledge of OPWDD regulations * Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities Practices. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelors Degree in Accounting or a related field; minimum of 3 years managerial experience in a non-profit or comparable organization.
